Got a good deal on this DAC / streamer a couple months back, but I won't be needing it so I'm passing it along to Friends.

I haven't seen this DAC (or other Bryston DACs for that matter) mentioned much around here. Here's the website with most of the info: https://bryston.com/digital-audio/bda-314/

In a nutshell, this unit combines the BDA-3 DAC with the BDP-Pi streamer in the same chassis.
In addition to its 192kHz / 24 bit streaming capabilities (Tidal, Qobuz, Roon and others), this DAC has all the inputs you will ever need, including 2x USB-B and 4x HDMI inputs. All the inputs are galvanically isolated, too, so it is very easy to add to any system without having to worry about ground loops and the likes.

The BDA-3 is one of the best DACs I've ever seen measured on Stereophile. As an added bonus: it sounds really good, too!

The DAC is black, in good cosmetic condition save for a few scuffs on the top of the chassis in the front. It's not visible from normal seating distance. I will add photos later.

Friends can have this for $2000 net to me.
The price for non-friends is $2400 net to me.

The unit will be listed on USAM and (maybe) AudioGon for the non-friend price, as well.

I’ve never heard a Bryston standalone DAC, but I’ve heard their CD player. I listened with the unmodded HD800 on the built-in headphone jack. It had a lovely presentation: excellent low-level detail without harshness, and tone and timbre that never drew undue attention to any particular area. Overall, I felt like the music just flowed. Mind you, I was still listening to the HD800, so it didn’t magically fix inherent issues with the headphone, but it was an enjoyable experience compared to other DAC/amp pairings with the HD800.

Did you ever play around with the HDMI input? Do you know if it can take a straight DSD input from an SACD player and decode it?

Intrigued by this for a video 2.0 system.

Since you're selling the BDA-3.14... do you prefer the iDSD Pro?

I used to have the BDA-1 but haven't heard the 2 or 3.

I sold the iDSD a long time ago.
The BDA-3 is a great DAC, but the Burl B2 plays better with my Focal speakers (warmer).
