Selling a modded EC Aficionado in excellent condition.

Comes with both Jupiter caps and the feedback mod switch on the back of the amp to switch from feedback to no feedback and vice versa. This was purchased from JK47 and the mods were performed by him. They were also subsequently checked by Craig to confirm nothing wrong was done with the mods.

    Comes with the following tubes:
    RCA 2A3 (pair)
Western Electric 396a + another one as backup
    Mullard AR4 rectifier
    RCA 5R4-GY rectifier

    Price is $2000 shipped.
Friends preferred. Local sale is also strongly preferred but will ship as I do have the original shipping boxes.

Thought this would be a keeper I could pass along to my kids but finally got a hold of Marv's studio dev amp that he sold prior to his move to TX. It’s been with my parents until a couple of months ago but since I now have it and need to fund a new speaker setup, it’s for sale.

    Pics posted soon.

Yes, I was pretty lucky that my parents lived a reasonably close distance to Marv at that time but with Covid, it's been stuck in boxes until I finally got it.

Listening to them vs the AF has reminded me how it's all so relative. I love the AF and could've been happy never looking for another amp - thought it brought a sense of space, resolution, texture to the music and never fatiguing. Then I listened to the dev amp and everything is just a bit more transparent, especially more separation of details, more stage width/depth, etc. Not huge at all but noticeable. It's a little bit brighter than the AF but I've managed that with tubes. Lastly, it's so cool to see the blue glow of the mercury rectifiers.

I use aficionado as preamp and it works perfectly fine with my setup(topping d10b / genelec 8030b) and rounded edge of bright sound and makes soundstage a bit bigger. The overall setup creates a beautiful sound, consider bottlehead 300b preamp beepre costs similar as aficionado without headphone amp, so aficionado is a very good equipment. Also I prefer non-feedback setting.

Price drop and will now include shipping.
Will probably just keep and use as a preamp if it doesn't sell.
