SOLD: Forssell MDAC-2a

Alright. This might be a sale I’ll regret later, but I’m trying really hard to thin out the gear herd.

If you’re reading this, you probably know these aren’t being made anymore. Fred Forssell retired earlier this year. I bought this unit on AudioMart in ‘20 and had the seller send it to Fred, who replaced a dinged faceplate and gave it a full inspection and clean bill of health.

Notably, this unit comes with both balanced and single-ended outs. The latter was a special order.

No scratches, dings, etc. From a clean, smoke-free home.

These don’t come up often for sale. The cheapest I’ve seen, according to HiFiShark, was $1,900 in 2019 for a unit that lacked the single-ended outputs. Given that I want this to be a good deal for Friends and Donors, I’ll stick with $1,900, and I’ll cover shipping and PP fees in the CONUS.

If this doesn’t sell here in a few days, I’ll list it elsewhere in the $2,100 range.

Should add, in case it’s not clear in the photo: This has AES and SPDIF inputs.

 

Argh, why must you fellas torment me so? If this had come up a couple months ago I would have bit, but I've purchased an SPL Mercury in the meantime which has sucked up my dac funds. Still tempting though (but then there's the MADA on gearslutz too...)
