    Guys,

I'm posting this turntable setup here especially (no where else right now) so that a SBAF member can get into a killer analog rig for very little. I would much rather someone HERE score this.

I am helping a friend who wants to sell this table. He is local to me (Orange County, California) and I actually help him set this table up from start to finish. He just isn't into vinyl but bought the turntable after he heard what analog has the potential to do.

He literally bought just ONE record! Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (Legacy edition) to listen to on this turntable....ONE RECORD!

The table has been sitting at his place unused pretty much. He bought the table used from the original owner about a year ago and I installed a Shure M97xe Moving Magnet cart for him. He loved what he heard, so later he wanted an MC cartridge and bought a slightly used Shelter 501 MKII which I also installed for him. He never ever played it because he doesn't have an MC phono! So this cartridge, which I've already installed perfectly is ready to go. I will have him bring over the turntable so I can hook it up to my system and make sure everything is setup perfectly for the buyer and buyer can listen to it.

Selling this locally for the most part. Don't want to ship it.

My personal recommendation, buy this table! It will beat the pants off any dac out there at any price, believe me :)
I'll make sure the table is ready to go for the new buyer.

I think I also have a very good phono stage (one that I own) that I can sell with the table here...I'll update this post as I forget which one it was, but it is an excellent starter phono amp. That will help get the new buyer up and running immediately for a turn key solution. Sorry, I have more than 9 phonostages, so I can't remember the details on the one I am thinking about, but I'll dig it out and post the details here...yeah analog sickness! I'd rather the buyer have a full ready to go solution if they don't already own a phono. Just buy records and enjoy!

PRICE: $OLD for the table and Shelter 501 MKII cartridge. This is a great deal for someone getting into vinyl and won't need to upgrade! Oh, that tonearm is a full Carbon Fiber one piece tonearm including the headshell...ALL one piece CF. Also, that center weight is nice and heavy. Keeps the record firmly planted and mated to the platter.

This Shelter 501 MKII was sold in the USA as the "Crown Jewel" cartridge for about $2650! Then Shelter just brought the cartridge to the USA directly for about $850 in 2005 I believe. Same exact cartridge!

    Got this from a 2008 Head-fi post:
This turntable was the flagship of the Pro-Ject line until a few months ago when Pro-Ject introduced the Pro-Ject RPM 10, but they share the same concept. The turntable is a mass loaded design with a massive acrylic platter spun on an inverted bearing, a damped plinth and a carbon fibre 9" tonearm with integrated headshell. The drive [motor] is a separate motor pod fully decoupled from the main plinth via sorbothane pads and a thin rubber belt turning the outer rim of the platter.

    God dammit....

And here's the funny bit, "Kind Of Blue" is literally the album i listen to the most (or most consistently anyway). Almost every listening session starts with kind of blue, from "Blue in green" to the "Flamenco Sketches" (Both of them) before listening to the whole cd from start to finish.

God i hate not being based in the states. Or better yet, near Gaurav's area.

@Rotijon , pick up the current Kind of Blue, Mobile Fidelity on 45rpm vinyl whether you have a turntable right now or not. Apart from a slightly exaggerated bottom end (which actually sounds really nice!), it is one of the best versions of this album I have heard. I bought 6 copies, incase anything happens to any of mine while I live :)

You will thank me later! It WILL go out of print soon as it sells so much and then they will become way too expensive to buy or hard to find. Also, the analog master tapes are not getting any younger. I have an original Columbia 6 eye as well and while it sounds amazing, it doesn't sound as good as this 45rpm version.

And miss out on a year of record listening? That's not worth it!! Get any turntable, but don't waste a year :)
