It's an Light Novel adaptation that aired this year called Hibike! Euphonium or Sound! Euphonium. Follows the story of a high school brass band. I don't think I've seen another anime that uses wind ensemble tracks.

I've never seen the movie, but had this bookmarked. It's from a Disney film The Crimson Wing: Mystery Of The Flamingos, I particularly like this track

A lot of my musical tastes, memories and associations come from a different age.

"Soundtracks," to me, first, conjures up South Pacific, Oklahoma, and all that stuff. Then, it conjures up Fred Astaire movies. My parents used to groan at Fred Astaire films, telling me that they had got fed up with them before I was even born --- but I always loved them.

I have a hifi-component-testing tradition. This is not auditioning, but does-it-even-work testing. It is a rip of my rather old LP: the soundtrack from ...

Give or take a year, its the same age as I am.

To not just count down cool horror movie and sci-fi keyboards:

    Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky cantata

    Popol Vuh - Aguirre

Philip Glass and the Kronos Quartet - Mishima

Basil Poledouris - Conan the Barbarian

More Poledouris and maybe even better: ROBOCOP

    Howard Shore Dead Ringers

I enjoyed the tracks from the show myself. A soundtrack for the show has been out awhile now. I tried to look up more things like this but I guess I didn't try hard enough. Thanks for posting this.

As much as it's almost redundant due to sheer popularity to even mention, I still feel this is one of the top spot holders:

Forget the movie, just listen to Gravel Road by James Newton-Howard:

Might not win you over on musical prowess but director Dario Argento, to me, remains the master of using eerie scores to truly put the mood of his movies:

Though Charlie Clouser's - Dead Silence isn't that far away in eeriness either:

Philip Glass's Truman Sleeps is another often overlooked masterpiece, imo:
