Strange Experience With New Magni Heretic

    I just received my Magni Heretic (B Stock) yesterday. I tried it with my SMSL DAC and it worked perfectly. When I tried it with my Schiit Mani 2 it went into protection mode. My preamp is an Topping Pre90. My headphones are AT M50X with an impedance of 38ohms. I tried tightening the 1/4” adapter on the headphone cable but it was tight as hell. I double checked all connections, RCA, XLR etc. all was good.

    I tried playing an LP again and the Heretic worked fine. It’s been good since. I wonder why it went into protection mode when I started it up initially?

    Have found some cheap 1/4" adapters will short momentarily depending upon how cable is oriented / pressure from certain angles. New Heretic has an overcurrent sensor. Possibly is tripped because of that.
