If it doesn’t by need Bluetooth (or maybe these days even if it does) and you have the space those mini powered monitors are really great. I’m forgetting the name of the company at the moment it’s a pro audio company and they make a whole line up of powered monitors including some cheap small ones. You could find a pair used for $50 and nothing would beat that. They actually sound like music.
Maybe someone can remind me the brand. I don’t think it was Presonus. This was about a decade ago that I got a pair for my dads computer and was really impressed.

That's not much money, so here's a very random suggestion: the old Cambridge Soundworks PC Works is a surprisingly good little speaker for what it is...
    https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...ambridge+soundworks+pc&_osacat=0&LH_PrefLoc=2

I still have my original one in a box somewhere (I upgraded to one of the bigger ones as my computer system hah!)

Well, left on my own, I decided to try an upgraded version of a pair of wireless iems I tried in the past, but deemed too insecure for outdoor activities. I am hoping a bit of experimenting with my newfound Wavelet app can get them to sound good enough for late night duties. At $20 they should be sufficient and a lot better sounding than any mono speaker I might find.

    EDIT:
I did not see the replies since I did not refresh the page. I certainly did think about some powered speakers to hook up to the echo via 3.5mm cable. And yes the Cambridge stuff is very decent. I was looking at things on ebay but prices with freight for used stuff is insane.

I have a feeling if these iems stay in my ears and the button does not get pressed I may be a very happy camper. This possible outcome is partly based on the great sound I get with my Tangzu Wa'ners with Wavelet EQ to some fancy pants iem profiles. Won't be able to do that with these but I can use the graphic EQ to manually adjust to taste.

Sonos Play One sounds pretty good but might be hard to find for $50. Maybe if you get lucky on craigslist.

Yeah, that's THE DOUK AUDIO for you. But, as an owner of one of those particular units, I can say it is worth it. I never tried I2S with it, though.

Looking for rear surrounds to turn a 5.1 into a 7.1. I also need a larger center channel. Currently center is 88db 4ohm, mains are 90db 4ohm, Rears on the 5.1 are also 90db 4ohm. Using an Emotiva MPS-1 with the ~300 rms cards in all 7.

The large emotiva center looks interesting. A heritage JBL monitor for center would be rad.

Random question... I want something to add to my current senn 58x, hd280pro, beyer 440 and other entry level lineup. For this one I am aiming for something that will sound tight and snappy for sound design on electronic synths and general all around apple music listening. Narrowing it down to AKG K240 for 69 bucks or Ety HF3 which I can currently get new for under 50 bucks... Any opinions?

I found a center and rears. Now I'm looking for a suggestion for speaker wire - 25' run. I might use worlds best cables unless someone else has a good suggestions.

Another stupid question - each run is for 1 speaker, correct? You tie the +/- together for the EMI rejection? Or can I split it for a pair of bookshelves? I know I split it for headphones - same concept.

    Thanks.

Not stupid at all! Let's go really basic here. First, the cable assembly has 4 wires in it. Two reddish and two whitish.

If you are bi wiring a speaker, you connect the dark red to + on the top terminal and light red to + on the bottom terminal of the speaker. You do the same for the whites on the - terminals of the speaker. For the amp you twist the reds together and attach to the + on the amp and the whites together for the - on the amp.

If you are running a speaker that only has positve and negative, then twist reds together and whites together and attach as described for the amp above only now to the speaker as well.

You will be using Two separate cables assemblies in total. One for left and one for right speaker.

I hope this is clear. Let me know if not.

Thank you. That is what I figured. I'll order 50' and should be gravy. Need to find techflex at a fair price now. I think I used a sand or dune color last time. Amazon has mostly black

    Random desired device:

A DAC that takes 2 Toslink in and has 4 RCA or balanced out.
Anyone seen such a thing? I have converters so Toslink could be Coax at the expense of more things.

Addendum: I forgot an important detail. I don't want to switch between 2 inputs, I want both inputs and all 4 outputs to be always on.
