Upcoming Texas mini-meet

Folks,

The Austin crew (Taco-Fi) will be getting together Sunday May 26th. A few Texas folks have expressed interest in joining us the next time we get together, so I'm posting it here in case anyone from anywhere wants to join. All are welcome to attend, regardless of status on this site.

Once the meet has concluded, hopefully we can get some takeaways posted here as well.

The purpose of the meet is to compare the Holo May KTE (fed with HQP and also just NOS if y'all want) to the Allnic D-5000 DHT DAC, to the PS Audio Directstream Mk1 (VOCM mod and APS nickel trafos).

This will happen on speakers (modded Klipsch Quartets) fed by maxxed out Elekit TU-8800, ic0n 4 Zen, Holo Red, and can happen on headphones as well. Headphones will be a slew of Sennheisers including various old meme ones as well as JAR, including the latest LSNJAR800V3 (Super Saiyan as Marv calls em). Headphone amp will be the DNA Stellaris. Can also have my Moth one of a kind OTL amp here if people want to hear it.

I will likely also have some Atma-Sphere OTL monoblock pentode speaker amps here for us to play with if time permits.

Meet date Sunday May 26th. The Directstream is with @Azimuth getting the trafos installed and the Allnic DAC is currently making its rounds among the local Austin fellas.

Also hopefully my Allnic phono pre (H-1202) will be back from its trip to the UK to get hopefully hot-rodded. Would love to play y'all some records with that beautiful thang. It's a treat.

 

I will be out of town May 29th through June 24th, if it's after that, of course I am in.

 

Tis very tempting. It's a 9 hour drive but then it's two hours to the local convenience store out here in NM/West Texas

 

You can sleep on my couch for the proper hifi tour treatment. Tacos and BBQ can happen as well. Bring your Cyan.

 

I’m definitely game. It’ll be fun to meet the Texas crew and test out audio.

 

If anyone wants to come in from out of town and wants to stay Saturday night, I have a couch to crash on and a spare Twin XL mattress, and we can have food and merriment Saturday evening.

Depending on the timing of the Weiss loaner, that could possibly be involved as well.

May 26th works for me as well! changed out the big tube on the Se, as it seems the one from last time was failing, sounds wetter and smoother now compared to last time. Got the HE5LE fixed as well and have a feeling the Sennheiser HD650 fans will prefer that over the HE6 setup from last time

 

For anyone coming to the meet, the always wonderful Noisyscott has offered to host Saturday night (the day before the aforementioned meet) at his house in town. He has an excellent 2.3 channel system that sounds fantastic, in his dedicated and sound-proofed (and treated) listening room.

Also, spare room has been claimed, couch is still available.

 

MIGHT actually be able to make this. May be going to Austin and/or Houston already later this month. Would be fun to stop by again if the dates line up.

 

@Vansen is coming too. We could be responsible for total taco annihilation and change y'all's lives forever. But yes we should do the 3-BBQ-joint lunch again when everyone is here just to say we did. Either that or all you care to eat at the Salt Lick. That's always a memorable meal in the hill country.

 

Been away from computer last couple of days but 26th is looking good for me as well (waiting on one last possible spoiler). Assuming I make it will bring Cyan with me as well.

 

Will be great if we're able to A/B with May. Would be awesome if Cyan is like 90% with a huge cost savings, using HQP of course. Look forward to seeing ya!

Also if you can make it for Saturday night we're doing the pre-hang at Scott's house with his bangin system.

 

I had an extended loaner of it already but I'll let others chime in if they want to hear it. I was very much a fan once I dialed in the synergy.
