    well shame on me for not posting sooner ---- life

    I can pretty much echo most people's opinions in that I really enjoyed the opportunity to listen to these.

    They sum up planars done well in areas that planars excel. Perfect ? no , neutral? no , but tuned to where I like them.

    They have a little emphasis in the bass region which is great for low level listening - I do not like high spl, figured out many moons ago that I have fairly sensitive hearing and even going to a football / basketball etc match needs concert attenuation or it is uncomfortable.

    I listened to these without paying attention to the measurements and had expected to find some odd order distortion at around the 2-3K mark as every now and then I could hear upper vocal range of female ( annie lenox / patricia barber ) give a hint of breakup / struggle - I do not hear this on the modded HD600. [ no sign of anything funny on posted measurments - no idea what I was hearing ], Nothing strident or sibilant, just not expected. I used balanced amps only as JK had modded the cable to balanced - being a cavalli fan I used the gold and platinum. The platinum has been my reference for many years and i know it well. ( for those who don't know - the platinum started as a proof of principal for a power amp and gave rise to the crimson - this is the amp I use )

    Likes: sounds good without having to struggle to find positives. Bass does not bleed into mids and presents microdetail in all frequency domains - really good at separating out baritones , fast upper transients make it snappy with a decent amount of air.

    I was not so enamoured by the style - makes me think of those "cat ear" headphones with speakers in the little ears, but who cares what it looks like - there have been far greater style atrocities in the planar world . I was not a fan of the Abyss style either FWIW. I did find getting it to fit comfortably took a little fiddling but if I owned them, I would have bent the frames a little. I wonder if slightly angled pads would change that?

    to sum up - these will likely rock the entry level headphone space and I suspect keeping up with production is going to be the biggest challenge. BUT don't think of these as entry level, they will easily contend with the much higher level headphones in the market, only falling short when you start to nitpick the minutia ( as we are doing here )

    Thanks @Garuspik for the opportunity and well done ! these are "changemakers"

    ..dB

    Everybody hate those cat ears ;( Frankly speaking, I made them... accidentally while experimenting ;) I'm working on a more pleasant looking headband without corners. Basically same principle, just better looking.
    @dBel84 - thanks for your opinion. What do you think about the weight of Verum 0,5 and weight distribution in particular?

    Weight and distribution were perfect. It did get a little warm despite it being winter here, so a ventilated band is a good thing. The ear pad fit was the challenge for me, but once I had adjusted it ti fit, it was fine. This was my thought re the slightly angled pads..dB

    I have to say these headphones continue to impress. While I wouldn't say they are the epitome in any one category, they seem to have no major flaws I can discern.

    I can pick nits of course, personal preference might be X, Y or Z blah blah, but once I put them on my head & music starts flowing there are no distractions. The word I used, engaging, keeps coming back to me. The more I use them, the more I want to hear.

    Also note, most of my listening is PC > Gungnir M/B (USB Gen5) > Pro iCan > Verum .5 via 4 pin XLR.

    Switching over to PC > Schiit Fulla 2 via 1/4" (with the extra USB power connected) there's plenty of power on tap for these and the sound quality is incredible. Sure it looses a bit in the technicalities, bass is a bit bloomier, but it's still quality. IDK the MSRP these will have when released, but this combo might make the budget combo of the year.

    Well done indeed Garuspik

    Thanks guys for a tour, your impressions, praise and criticism:

    List of those who listened to Verum 0.5 is:

    @E_Schaaf
    @purr1n
    @Hands
    @JK47
    @dBel84
    @Jinxy245

    Projected MSRP ~250$ including WorldWide shipping.

    Let's talk about the future about this particular sample. I've told at the beginning of the tour that this unit will be a present to a person who will point me at the biggest flaw. Yes, we have here such a review and this is from my point of view it is a post of @JK47 (and our pm conversation) so I ask @Jinxy245 to send those headphones to @JK47

    After I finish at least Kickstarter orders I'll try to rework design of headband and present final variant of Verum 0,5 to community.
    Thanks!
