I'm not sure how well the low temperature solder will work, but the heatshrink is essentially the same thing used to cover splices which are soldered normally.

Probably fine. Some use unusual low-temp solders, probably not the lowest-resistance electrical connection (or good for the environment) but good enough. They are a mainstream product with mil spec versions.

There are quite a few manufacturers of similar repair splices. I used another brand when rewiring an M109 per the harness specs. Work fine, used extensively in ground vehicles, ships & aircraft. You really need a proper heat gun that can do something around 700 degrees F. I wouldn't trust the results with a hairdryer or propane torch. There's a bunch on Amazon with some useful accessories to direct heat all around the splice for $20.

A crimped connection with heat shrink is far more durable for any mobile applications than solder and shrink.

If you choose the correct splice size and crimping tool for the effective wire gauge of the 2 wires
That is not always a given for those with limited experence
