not really much. only amps i ever liked the most were harman kardon's low negative feedback 775 monoblocks and the dual-mono 770 power amp. pro amp wise the crown ce2000 was my favorite for long time till i sold it for some other stuff and needed something more powerful for sub duty but has proven itself as a very robust hi-fi power amp with lots of balls/grunt power that most audiophile amps could only have wet dreams of. can get them under 200 most of time. only tube gear i liked was a rebuilt fisher receiver and a completely over hauled and rebuilt dynaco st70 power amp and psa3 control unit/preamp with transformers rebuilt, all tubes replaces and of course other parts replaced as well and i'm not really into tubes like lot of older folks are.

i haven't been in hi-fi/audiophile stuff in long time but, will say some of the older crowns and even some newer ones will do better for the money than emotiva stuff in my opinion. i think nad is probably much better option if looking for budget stuff but, that's me. the schitt ragnarok while i never tested it myself is probably best option if can find one in your budget due to how well it is built and great parts used. i'm just being as honest as i can be from personal experience and just reading up on stuff.

I have had a fair amount of experience with amps over the last 4 decades. Not sure of KEF efficiency but a great sounding amp at about half your budget is the Virtue Audio One.2 integrated that worked very nicely.

Another one to look for in the used arena is the Bel Canto amps that used the Tripath chip. The EVO4 is still a very good sounding amp. I use a 4 channel version bridged in my main speaker setup today and it still sounds great even compared with some of the new Pascal iterations.

Another older amp that should be on the hunt list would be some of the McCormack amps. McCormack offered modded units which sounded very good. The DNA 125 and the DNA.5 deluxe I had were excellent. There is a .5 deluxe on the bay right now bid at 660.

I think If I were looking at current offerings I might start the search with NAD, which always was good sound and value.

oh @cizk just saw a few over on audio asylum that look interesting but that I have not heard. Muse monoblocks and Channel Island monoblocks, both a bit north of $600.

Check out Peachtree's gear. Happy with my Nova125 and Maggies (but plan on upgrading to Schiit's new 2-channel stuff later this year, assuming release holds).
