Thoroughly agree. Replayin' the SP campaign, actually. Been tiding me over until Shadow Warrior 2 rolls in next month. :p

It's a shame that Mick Gordon's score for the game isn't available publicly. He typically produces quality, but really knocked it out of the park with DOOM. It's like the Trent Reznor soundtrack that the series always deserved.
Shit! Cut yourself that deep? Hope it's okay.

It's not too bad, but I cut 1/4in clean off. More a nuisance than anything else.

Heh, the perils of food preparation. Thinkin' that I might try Telltale's take on Batman, since the myriad technical issues seem to have been more-or-less ironed out.

I have rediscovered my first love - Everquest via Project 1999. Ugly as sin and still the best MMO ever.

Playing DOOM right now. Have to say that I'm a bit surprised by how good it actually is. I think this might the first game I've played which plays as fast and as smooth as the old school DOOM titles but looks like it was made 2010 and later. Not much story obviously, it's DOOM. But if you want a fast action shooter this is quite fun! And smooth. Obviously having a good enough rig to be able to crank it up helps. But at 2560x1440 @ 144 fps is quite nice!

Actually, the new Doom has some really cool lore. The immediate story is barebones, as it should be, but there's a lot of cool world building and characterization going on, and as a major Doom fan, I'm psyched to see the direction the series can take the new lore.

I will have to check out Doom, as I loved the originals.

I really enjoyed the Tomb Raider reboots. I know they were pretty hand-holdy, but basically playing my way through a movie was fun. Combat mechanics a bit clunky at times, but the visuals were amazing (even with my lowly GTX960) and the tomb raiding/platforming was a nice break from the normal shooters I play.

Pretty excited for the Bioshock remasters as well as the possible Mass Effect ones. Curious as to whether gameplay will change or if it will only be visually updated (particularly with Mass Effect inventories/leveling/shooting mechanics). If one can dream, would love to see the openness of the first game combined with the mechanics of the third.

Yes, TR2013 was quite good albeit short, linear and full of plot holes. ROTR was amazing however, I scoffed at 69.99 for what would surely be another 8 hour interactive movie but after picking it up on sale and putting enough time into the game to get 100% completion I think I got my moneys worth. The hub system and pacing were greatly improved from the first game and I'm not usually the type to hunt after every last collectible in a game.

At least 1 year too late, but I am finally ready to update to the PS4 from my aging PS3. I am thinking about buying the new PS4 slim today/this week in advance of FIFA 17 (may pick up PES 17 in the meanwhile). Is there any reason why it might be worth waiting for the PS4 Pro in November given that I have no intention of getting a 4K TV and am not interested in the VR stuff. I don't mind spending the extra $100 for future proofing alone, but I really want to get started with my son on the new soccer game(s) as the European soccer leagues are already underway.

I will hold onto my PS3 for a while. Unfortunately, I don't have room for both in our media cabinet so would have to swap out units if we want to play PS3 games. The only legacy game we are likely to go back to though is Lego Dimensions which we have not yet completed and we have a lot of accessories from b-day presents this past summer. I think I may just buy the PS4 version game disc used and start over on the PS4. The real bummer is that my son accidentally hit New Game last weekend and we lost all of our progress. We spent the better part of the weekend catching back up. Not looking forward to have to do certain levels again for the third time (although the story is pretty fun and now we know exactly what to do on those levels). At least we are only about 4 chapters into story mode as my son has not been that into it. The game is kind of interesting in that a Lego game by its design is really for young kids, yet all the Dimensions worlds are really more for the parents (Simpsons, WIzard of Oz, BTTF, Ghostbusters, Scooby Doo, etc.) So, while my son enjoys the gameplay as with other Lego games I think I get a bigger kick out of it than him (and have to explain all the pop culture reference stuff).

Looking forward to all the sports games on the PS4. My brother has FIFA16 on PS4 and it looks so much better than PS3.

Yeah - I'm taking back what I said. There's actually quite a lot of cool lore and story in here! The game has some massive shifts - one second you're quietly exploring and reading the lore and hunting for secrets, then the next second you're double leaping and double tapping the supershotgun against 20 angry demons. Haha! Quite fun. :D

DOOM gets my seal of approval no doubt. Best FPS of 2016 so far by a mile.

Just learned that the bioshock remasters are free for previous owners. The remasters showed up in my steam library earlier today. I might play Bioshock 1 again since its been a while.

@Colgin personally, I'd skip the old big PS4. Slim or Pro is more reasonable now.

I find your intentions are contradictory. You want a future proof console but you don't have intention to get 4K or HDR TV, which is the future. Pro are made for that reason and VR.

I think my post was not clear. I have no intention of getting old PS4. Either the Slim or Pro. My point is that I would not mind paying extra money to future proof in theory, but I doubt I would get much benefit and am therefore leaning towards the slim that is available today. Given that I don't intend to to upgrade my TV it seems like the future proofing benefit would me fairly minimal or nonexistent, but maybe there are other advantages I am not considering so wanted to see if there are other good reasons to wait.

Pro will have some games look better or run at a better framerate at 1080p (or actually run at 1080p instead of being upscaled). Some older games will be patched. Higher power consumption and bigger overall. We'll see what actually comes of the extra performance.

Whatever happened to RTS? I use to love Total Annihilation and Command and Conquer on PC (in that order). I want to see some make their way to console too.

I still consider age of empires 2 as one of the best games I've ever played.

My first RTS experiences were Warcraft orcs and humans and one of the original Dune games, just before the golden age of RTS.

Unfortunately not as popular today. I still get enjoyment from StarCraft 2 and Total War, but that's about it. I'm hoping Halo Wars 2 is good as I love the halo universe.

@Colgin @Hands it's uncertain whether Pro will do 1080/60 or capped at 1060/30. Pro has benefit of running stable 30 at least, so there's improvement from Slim. However, personally I think the biggest benefit of Slim is the size & portability. That thing is small, so small that you can stuff it into your bag & play at friends' houses.

By the way, does anyone play The Witcher 3?

My favorite DOOM clone from yesteryear.

So many dead Stormtroopers! :D Dark Forces was the first FPS that I played on PC, actually. Grew up with consoles.
