Yea, I think that'd be best. I'll let @jexby or other mods weigh in though. Actually, might make more sense to carve off the ordering into a separate thread, and keep @Hands original impressions thread as that - impressions.

Since the new amp has notably improved transformers and the possibility of a better pot, I say a new thread is warranted. The prototype I have probably isn't indicative of the production amp's sound. :)

Got to agree with Koth on this one. There is something about the way that dynamics move air that gives me the feeling that instruments are actually being played. I don't know if this difference can be measured but for example an Aeon Closed sounds completely flat and lifeless compared to an HD650 or HD800S. My SR007 was somewhere in the middle.

Man the Phonitor 2 is totally nuts. With the Gungnir Multibit and Utopia combo I have here, it does amazing things. I actually thought about trading my Zana Deux for a moment, but I think I'd regret trading that one forever. However I'll be sad to see the Phonitor returned to its owner after a long trial period, it's freaking brilliant.

I've found most amps can't hande the full output from Convert 2. Use the trim pot or a transformer to reduce the voltage.

I thought introducing a balanced preamp would help. But seems not (unless the preamp has a problem)

Yeah, convert output is a bit too hot. It does a great job with the Jensen Iso-max though

You're welcome. Did you try it with a linear power supply? It makes a huge improvement. Pick up the Keces DC-116 with 12V 3A power. It's made and shipped from Taiwan.

I am totally unable to get the Keces for whatever reason. I am using a LPS 12V 3A from aliexpress.com (I know !)
