Huh. I've never been over to that site before, but it feels like Headcase without the foul language and personal attacks. Despite how good or bad it measures, not talks about how it sounds.
@Vansen - they are more competent at Head-Case. ARS is an 'objectivist' site but you only see 6-10 people commenting on everything. Its telling when someone with 2500 posts over there was banned here after 12 posts.
Sigh. Bob, admit it...it's YOU...you have a DScope, you're in the same area, you're a scientist/engineer...I'm seeing a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde thing going on here. (Kidding, of course.)
I'm kinda glad they measured the Bifrost. I was starting to take them seriously as another site measuring gear. But these are so bad (along with Emotiva DC-1) that I have to take all their measurements with a huge grain of salt.
No wait, guys. You’re all clearly missing my genius:
1. I’m, like, really important.
2. A screw on a used product was slightly loose. (Can u belee’ ‘dat shit?)
3. So... poor build quality?
4. It WAS really tiny!
5. Did I mention I was important?
6. “Measurement gobbledygook”
7. Bad product, yo!
8. (How did it sound again? Oh, who cares)
@Cspirou - Seattle based - appears to be another MS millionaire with time and money on hands but hasn't gone beyond pushing buttons on scripts provided by AP. I can't tell if it's ignorance or maybe he has a vested interest in Topping.
I don't have the time or energy anymore. Just enough attempting to mentor several new people at work so my department will be in good hands when I retire from corporate life and still have a little left over for the measurements I post when able.
Ahahaha guess I'm deaf. I still need to acclimate to RME AD-2 DAC but I'm already missing Gungnir Multibit. Having listened to Bifrost Multibit just before connecting ADI-2 DAC there is an energy lost and a slight veil to the sound, maybe velvet sound? Just first early impressions on SD Sharp filter. Yggdrasil Analog 2 will be purchased sooner than later.
That guy is NWAVGUY. Same posting style, from the northwest, and a bunch more clues. I've been looking at him for a while and it's pretty damn compelling.
Amirm? One of the biggest oh-yes-it-is pantomime clowns ever on hydrogenaudio (of course, it takes the oh-no-it-isn't team to play along too)? Just too tedious for words.
Makes dacs but doesn't know how they work. Was something in microsoft. That's probably six people I got confused as per my usual screw loose!
@zerodeefex I went back and took a closer look. I got a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach when I saw the the text overlays on those images. The font, placement, and colour coding is un-f'ing-cannily like how @Nwavguy used to do the ones on his blog.
Never thought of this before. If an objectivist is presented with different measurements, they have to make a subjective decision which to believe? Am I missing something here?
@Dino It’s a subjective decision to believe the objectivist viewpoint in the first place. It seems to me that given the limited understanding of psychoacoustics and such, a leap of faith is required to believe that current measurements show everything there is to show, and that blind listening tests are even a reliable and accurate tool.
I agree with that @BenjaminBore . I was thinking an objectivist could pretend nothing but objectivity was involved with all of that. That is until presented with two or more "objective" but different sets of data. That seems where the pretending could get complicated.
Don’t they usually just theorize about the methodology and equipment presumably used in the collection of the data set they didn’t like, then simply proceed to criticise it ;)
Measurements, blind listening tests, long term subjective listening are all tools in the tool box. Only a fool will stubbornly put all faith in any single one over the others. Even with all three available as a guide, we still have personal preferences which always trumps the first three, for the individual, not the collective.
Thank-you for the perspective @Grahad2 . It helps sort out the knows from the don't knows. This fellow definitely falls in the don't knows category from the data currently available.
