It can be pretty variable but I reckon it is a combination of mood, fatigue, track, and psychoacoustic acclimatisation to whatever you listened to last and even more so to what you have spent the most time with recently.
I had severe chronic ear infections for the first decade of my life. Miracle I can still hear to 19khz. Still have clogged sinuses most days, sometimes affecting bass perception and faking me out with channel imbalances that aren't really there. Listening level, big caps warming up in my amp, time of day can all have an effect.
So much of how we perceive what we hear is dependent on mood. I also think power might have something to do with it. A lot of people underestimate how much quality of power going into the amp matters
