Well, I visited someone with a crazy system who not only invested lots of money, but also modded most of his equipment. He modded his B&W 800 D3, the Ayre monoblocks etc. and built himself a PSU with megaspecial components etc. I did not understand everything, because I am not an engineer. The first song was "Agnes Obel - Familiar" and it sounded SO different and fascinating that it made me cry instantly.

While I have never heard such an amount of detail and such a huge stage in every direction (sounds even from behind, although two channel), it's not tuned the way I would do it. It sounded too "hart" (German word) to me. Dunno what the right word is in English. Maybe glarey, because it was not too bright, but caused fatique and lacked warmth.

He tuned it for perfect resolution, silver cables everywhere. There were songs that just didn't catch me on that system and one of my favorite songs I definitely prefer on my own system (tubes and horns FTW!).
