From what I've read, options are (1) find an antique mechanical player, (2) go down a rabbit hole of turntable acquisition and mods, needle experimentation, preamps and equalizers or (3) minimal analog and Audacity digital fixes.
You don't need an antique player. Newer turntables like the AT-LP120 can do 78rpm. You'll probably need a 78rpm cartridge though, but it might not be necessary.
