I was really surprised how neutral its tonal balance was (plus minimal stax coloration). Larger and better-defined soundstage was another wow. Harmonic coloration and perceived noise floor were also minimal. Crazily good to my tastes in almost every aspect.
Omega og was also an interesting listen -- as it's been more than two decades since I've first heard lol. To my ears in 2023, it pretty much felt like stax-version hd600 with a great bass extension. Impressive in some ways but not quite my cup of tea.
that's quite some complements. I think Omega >> HE90 despite the latter's more even FR (setup more tuned to the Omega though). And prefer both over the HE1 significantly.
Will write up this audition report later in the thread.. but omega was preferred by old-schoolers or hardcore estat folks. Prol tad more clarity. X9k is a better allrounder (to me) with highly refined highs and beautiful 3d.
