EDIT: Actually, I don’t know why I left out tone. While quite some variance is ok with me, some stuff just isn’t, like too much treble. So tone is actually the most important one, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be totally cohesive.

Tone and extension are my primary in that list, the rest are pleasant surprises.

In headphone context or 2 ch?
In hp 3d room and instrument space is thrown out of the prio list.
In 2 ch it is defo in top 3.
Tonal quality (intactness, naturalness and balance) and resolution (prerequisite is low distortion and adequate transient behavior) are always in top 3 in both cases. Extension is cheap trick unless the other parameters are in place.

I'll break the rules and pick 2: cohesive tone and transient response. The others are in the "nice to have" category for me.

At one point, one of my answers would be low distortion, but as an enjoyer of SW51 I found out that isn't necessarily the case.

I'll do two, too, with a caveat: cohesive tone but with extension at both ends of the frequency spectrum.

Presuming by 'cohesive' you mean no big humps or dips, then: tone, tone, and - what were the others again?

Spatial clues are essential. For everything! Not having them or getting them can be painful.

I'll take tight transient response and low distortion. I can always add a sub to a 2.1.

It depends but ideally, I need 2:
    - tone - not FR, but traits of sound
    - realistic transients - much harder said than done because not all instruments have tight transients

    excusable:
headphone extension - can't over come physics
low distortion - distortion can be made to sound good. see electronics in music.
good spatial - very nice to have, but can succeed with ok enough spatial. see hd580/600/650.

Tone, transient response, low end extension. Spatial cues would be next, distortion last.
