    Hi,

what is your experience with headphone amplifiers for highly sensitive in ears monitors?

For example, my VE6 has 122 dB/mW and I get hiss, noise, clicks etc. with almost every amp I tried. The only two amps that were really silent were iFi iDSD Micro with IEmatch and Centrance Hifi-M8 with in ear mod. I don't really need a portable amp as I use it at my desktop 99% of the time anyway. So, does anyone know desktop Amps or Dac/Amp Units that are can handle highly sensitive in ear monitors?

Thanks, but this thread is pretty old and not very helpful as there are only portable amps mentioned. Maybe the title here should be "Desktop Amps for high-sensitive C(IEM)"

Try looking through the Campfire Audio Andromeda Review: Holy Cow, This is a Dream, Awesomesauce! thread, since the Andros are also very sensitive and pick up amp noise very easily. The Jotunheim might be a good choice for a desktop amp to use with (C)IEMs as it's very quiet and the volume pot is supposed to have good channel balance down low. An iEMatch in front of many amps will help with noise.

I'm also using the micro iDSD. With the Andros and iEMatch on High, I don't hear any noise.

The iDSD, to my ears, has a bit weird highs, don't know how it is called in english, maybe it's what you mean by "splashy", that's why I sold it. I read the Jot should be nice with IEM but some said it has that agressive / splashy treble what is a no-go with my IEM. And also iDSD is not good enough and it's not a desktop unit.
