Curious what the blues fans around here are into and if there are any suggestions based on my current listening habits. I ordered a couple of Earl Hooker albums from Arhoolie a couple months back and they've been played pretty much every day since. Before that Albert King was my go to for Chicago/electric blues. Also a big fan of the country/acoustic stuff. Mance Lipscomb is my current fav.

I appreciate the Blues. Without Blues no R&B, Soul, Funk, Stomp'N Groove, Rock & Roll and all kinds of awesome Metal.

Get this compilation and do not look back. It was so good that I bought it twice. One set went to my favourite cafe because Blues and good company go well together. I cannot explain why...

That looks like a great comp to get a sense of the entire spectrum of blues. A few names I don't know and people i just haven't gotten around to yet so will probably try and find a copy. Thanks!

I see Big Joe Williams version of 'baby please don't go' is on there. Good sign in my book.

edit: so of course i went and looked for my Big Joe Williams cd and god damn it 'baby please' is not on there!

I'm also a fan of the Blues. I'm currently listening to a lot of Joe Bonamassa:

I'm also a fan of Tadeschi.

I'm looking forward to recommendations from others for guitar driven Blues.

If you wish a nice break from the guitar based blues occasionally, check out Johnny Adams.

Any reccos for some laid back, modern-ish, instrumental, electric guitar blues? Something in the vein of 70s soul jazz, funk/fusion.

I had the Jimi Hendrix Blues compilation in college and loved it. But I listen to music mostly without lyrics at work. Any recommendations for excellent albums that are without lyrics?

I'll be honest in that I haven't listened to any of these cuts as listed, but a lot of the artists are notable. You may be able listen to some on youtube. I hope that you hear some that you like.
