Yeah, not a big fan of Volta. Much respect to Biophilia, which is a great album and certainly has its own unique character, but I don't find Vulnicura to be a step back at all. It's certainly darker as most breakup albums are but I have enjoyed it greatly.

See, I think Biophilia is the best thing she's done since Vespertine. Also Bjork already has a better album about relationships, Homogenic, and that's an album I can listen to endlessly. I'll go back to Vulnicura at some point, but it didn't grab me like her best work did.

I've bought that (and all of her albums), but I haven't listened to them. I'll go on a binge here soon! :) But Vulnicura was released in 2015 I'm afraid, so it didn't make the cut. I look forward to having strong album opinions though.

On vinyl at least Epoch just came out, IE 2017!

I felt 2016 was a strong year for hip hop as well, Tribe called quest, de la soul, even Run the jewels (technically 2017 on vinyl). I need to listen to Aesop.

Yeah it's almost impossible right now to find out about the best underground stuff unless you know who is releasing it in advance or follow underground blogs of Bandcamp releases.

I felt like SoundCloud used to be a great portal for this, if you followed the right folks, peaking in about 2013. Their push for commercialization and profitability has really hindered this aspect of it over the past few years.

As you said, the esoteric blogs are still out there, but SoundCloud seemed to have made it easy for a short while.
