I don't think too many people have them, but I enjoyed them so much, I moved on from the Atlas, and purchased a pair of RE2000 to use in their place. I think new toy syndrome is past, and I still love their sound signature. They are holding up so far. I bought an aftermarket cable, as the stock one is kinda meh. With the release of the silver version, and the price that the gold ones can be had for, they are pretty much on par with the Atlas in terms of cost. They definitely don't have the premium feel and build that the CA earphones have, but I prefer the sound. Thats just me though.

Based on pictures of both, I agree on the build quality and overall feeling part. Can't say a word about sound.

Yes sir. Very few in my local area to share this hobby with and since they were a review sample it made sense to send them along to someone else to try out.

Agree about Campfire. Even their inexpensive iems like the Comet feel phenomenal. A nicer cable for the RE2000 would go a long way towards justifying the premium price. The stock one is fine, but fine isn't good enough for 2K imo.

The cable for RE800 has been changed to replaceable some time ago. Personally, I found the original cable to have way too big minijack plug and somewhat too short. This created the tendency for the jack to disconnect.

The 7kHz peak is your own ear canal uncompensated natural resonance. It can be modified either by the use of foam tips (moves down, same level), by very deep insertion (moved up and reduced a lot) or by very shallow insertion (moves down and reduces a lot).

For RE800 itself, the best result is by deep insertion and I do mean Etymotic ER4 kind of deep with triple flange tips. It is still relatively comfortable when achieved.

Very shallow insertion would require some sort of tubing (a few cm at least) and way out of ear placement. (Similar to the experiment with VSonic GR07 I ran some time ago.) Ergonomics would be compromised.

Now the final way is to introduce a tuned antiresonator a'la Sennheiser's IEMs. Unfortunately, it is impossible to perfectly tune one of these for every ear canal.

I can only agree with that and this struck me even harder with Susvara and HE-1000v2.

Yeah, the Susvara's cables felt like DIY units. Wasn't impressed with them at all. Pretty sloppy looking construction for a 6K product. They did the trick though, so at least there's that, lol.

DIY build yes, though better looking and better built than most of HifiMan's stuff. I still have wet dreams about Susvaras. One of those days I'll snatch a pair.
