I have no culture, no religion, and no horse in the race. So for me, it's a simple math problem. And right now, each Israeli life is worth somewhere between 10 to 100 Palestinian lives.

That's some pretty fucked up math.

Yes the world got to this point. One we figured out that words are violence, we know how it happened, every confrontation of different opinions or even strong feelings about any subject turns into a call to a civil, kinetic, war. The world is neetly devided into two buckets, angels and fascist. What is funny is that we can jump effortlessly from one bucket to another, depending who we are talking to.

Wow, never been called a racist before. Dated and almost married both a Mexican girl, and a black girl. Have worked for, and had work for me, every conceivable minority (including 3 Trans - first in starting in1984!) over the last 45 years. My first-born married a 1/2 Mexican girl. I support two (as @Merrick would deign to call them) separate “brown boys” in Guatemala and Costa Rica. These are life experiences and facts.

I call out racism everywhere I see it, every chance I get. It isn’t a left/right thing, it’s an “evil” thing. I’ve actually been IN a “race riot” and still have the physical scars (had to get stitches.. the 1967 Detroit riots). I fear we’re heading the same place.

@purr1n had made THIS thread the one place where things could be discussed, as long as one was “exemplary” (sharing real stories and examples). I did that for my personal experiences (e.g. with Illegal Immigration many months back). And I got my “disinformation” tags despite it being real-world experience. Just how DID my sharing my first hand experience of an employee and her husband being murdered by an illegal alien (fact in reality) make me as @Merrick tagged me back then with his dislike and misinformation tag “a genuine racist disgusting piece of shit”? I’ll note for the record, I didn’t respond then and I won’t stoop now. I have thicker skin and there’s no POINT.

It is unfortunate there are a few people who cannot, and will not leave behind their extreme views (of whatever “side”) enough to actually pay attention and listen - and acknowledge they may be wrong, misinformed, or insufficiently informed. In my life experience, those yelling the loudest and most nastily simultaneously know the least wrt: facts, and are the least willing to LISTEN. And that’s true for any/all “sides” Hence, I presume Marv’s requirement to make it experiential, by example, not just parroting the (corrupt) media monkeys/positions…

I fear for our society. Too many of our youth have not been taught critical thinking, to listen, or to respect others. The bill is coming due.

Name-calling temper tantrums lacking any basis in reality are sad, really. We should not let them derail or destroy SBAF.

In all seriousness now, I will also say I have no horse in this race aside from not wanting this to further escalate global instability, further devalue money and cause other financial chaos, further harm more people (Americans, Israelis or Palestinians, or whoever else will inevitably get dragged into this due to proxy), or whatever further chaos.

TBH I'm a bit surprised more people in the US and globally don't seem to openly feel this way it comes to this all. I'm also sure I'm going to get hate for this comment followed by some blame game and/or name calling, which I will simply allow to happen at the moment because I have a dinner to make.

@penguins , I don’t get the tie in between Bill Ackman and the second meme - he plays in the consumer sector. Do a brother a favor and splain the meme

Nothing new. We think we humans have advanced. Nope. Several spots around the world where humans are killing other humans for a plot of land. WWII wasn't that long ago. All big and most medium sized cities in Germany and Japan got nuked. Don't need nukes to nuke a city. Firebombing does the same. The fact is, that's the only way to win a war: total war. Surgical strikes, self-imposed limits, history has proved that being humane doesn't win wars. Might makes right. Is that right? I don't subscribe to might makes right, but is it the reality? Definitely. There's a reason why Federation (with their high ideals) starships have phasers and photon torpedoes, a bunch of allies, and a huge fleet.

The news is depressing and TBH I'd rather not be reminded of it on SBAF.

Finally, talk politics at your own risk. If you talk politics, be prepared to be more butthurt by people who disagree with you than be banned. Not enough mods, and mods have their own lives.

I know you guys consider this forum as a bar and not necessarily an audiophile forum, but even I don't discuss politics with friends I know they hold an apposing opinion, I leave that for acquaintances and twitter because I can afford to hate those people.

I'm not asking for this thread to be closed either (even tho I believe SBAF would be a better place without it). I just want to advise friends here to not open this thread if you're the type of guy to get heated and emotional (it's not simply butthurt) when discussing politics, most people fall under this category including myself.

    I laid out several guidelines:
    1. Smartly weave the politics into a story about audio
    2. Ensure you have high social credit (sufficient posts about audio - implied 20:1 ratio of audio : politics)
    3. Tell of a personal story, a human interest story, and how public policy affected you (not soundbites*)
Nobody follows these guidelines. Maybe it's time to make them rules.

*One thing to talk about the dead bodies of illegal entrants scattering in Eagle Pass, TX. Another thing to say how you bumped into bodies or saw human traffickers. Heresay doesn't count.

NEW RULE: No politics for anyone, except my usual stories in this thread.

    --

Go back to the first post in the thread. 99% of the politics talk isn't anywhere as thoughtful as what I've written in the indexed articles. And even then, none of my articles are overtly political. Or I bitch at left right up and down.

They just want to keep you Jews alive until the rapture, then they will turn on you.

OK, bad joke. You get what I mean. You already know this anyway.

Oh, and while we are at it being politically incorrect (but with a twist). The stereotype with Jewish people being cheapskates, selfish, stingy. Total bullshit.

I've only experienced the stereotypical "Jewish cheapness" not from Jewish people, but get this... Germans.

My wife had a German friend who was moving back to Germany. She asked my wife if she would be willing to take the plants. Then her German friend asked my wife how much money she was going to give her for the plants. I just think it's odd that it's German "thriftiness", instead of German cheapskateassery.
