hey all ive had audio gear for a while now but first time here. my journey started with a MMB1 v1.1 (revision of the OG but before the op amp change) and magni 2. that eventually became an iemagni and atom dac. i have none of those now, gave them away prior to moving recently (regretfully even the MMB1.1). have a pietus maximus otw but im debating on the ES9028 card or getting a modius e. i just an HD650.

    Hello!

Learned of these forums by a friend of mine who isn't really an audiophile himself, but did like reading things around here when he went to find a good pair of headphones for his gaming. I've always had better-than-decent headphones w/ the ATH-AD700 largely for gaming, and the ATH-M50xBT for the bassy stuff + its bluetooth capabilities. With having some extra cash on hand, been starting to take an interest in the audio scene, to see if there's worth in taking a step further with my audio setup.

    Hi Everyone!

I've been lurking on and off since the Western Electric warranty debacle, and figured the best time to join is now.

I am just a headphone user with an interest in tubes, the first "real" headphone setup I've started with was the HD600 approximately a decade ago with the original Magni & Modi stack (they're still alive, btw)

My current lineup consists of ZMF & Sennheiser headphones with a bunch of tubes and the Holo May, but I used to own a couple of Focal & Hifiman units. My future plans include more ZMFs and to finally partake in Stax.

I have never been banned on any platform, so heres hoping I am here to stay :)

Hello, I'm a long time lurker here and figured it's about time I introduce myself. I've been reading reviews on SBAF for many years; the inclusion of standardized measurements in reviews are what initially appealed to me.

I'm a decade into this hobby and these days I listen to music at home on a pair of ADAM Audio monitors, movies/games on a 5 channel surround system, and headphones on the go using the DCA E3 + Chord Mojo 2.

The E3 and recent performance leaps of audio electronics got me back into discussions about this hobby, though I'll likely continue to do a lot more reading than posting.

    Hello,
I found this forum while researching audio components to purchase. I had developed a recent interest in listening to my 2-channel audio setup, and my engineer brain was compelled to seek out the highest value proposition that my situation allowed for in looking for upgrades.
Without a local source for gear, I started by reading lots of reviews and watching you tube videos. I quickly learned that with few exceptions, most online reviewers seemed to have seldom met a new product they didn’t like!
I eventually I found my way to sites that had communities that offered much deeper discussions into engineering, gear, objective measurements, and subjective experience, populated by folks with more experience that I would ever hope to have.

SBAF in particular became a trusted source of information. Looking forward to being part of it.

I recently updated my piecemeal system to one centered on Schiit Audio. Schiit’s company mindset, their value proposition, coupled with their commitment to building products in the US is what helped me make my decision. That, and the reviews and listening impressions found here! Very happy with the system, and loving the SQ.

    Current setup:
    Mac mini w/ Roon
Project RPM 5.1 turntable with Grado Sonata cartridge
    Yggdrasil+ GS2, Unity USB
    Freya+
    Aegir monoblocks
    Cornwall 4’s

    Hello from Freiburg, Germany.

I am relatively new to the hobby, with a year in. Decided to join the best forum on the matter, by the advice of an experienced, long time lurker friend of mine.

I own or owned the followings
    • Schiit Magni/Modi 3
    • HD660S
    • Ananda Stealth
    • Arya Stealth
    • EF 400
    • A pair of B&W 602S3
    • Powered by a Chi-fi value wonder, the Aiyima T5.
And I had the pleasure to try the HD600, 650, ZMF Vérité Opened, ShortestWay 51+, various high end Schiit dacs and amps.

I love the sound of planars, despite their flaws.

Into electronic music, jazz, classical. Favorite composers are Scriabin, Shostakovich and Rachmaninov.

Yay, greetings to Freiburg from Nürnberg! :) Nice to have someone else from the broad region here. Now I know two others here from southern Germany. Time for a local meet, I guess? ;)

Hey, what's up. I've been into music and audio my whole life, some of my earliest memories are of messing around with my dad's stereo system. I got into electronic music production in the late 90s and have been doing that ever since. I'm one of those rare people who happens to be into making music AND into good playback systems - even 'hifi' dare I say it. Music and audio is just part of the fabric of my life, but I somehow had kind of forgotten about the pleasures of headphones for years until recently. My trusty old DT-990s are getting pretty beat up and I started looking around for some new studio headphones, and randomly decided to sit down and listen to an album, and was reminded of how great headphone listening really is. Things escalated pretty quickly and now I'm enjoying LCD-XCs, but because it's kind of a sickness, I'm also looking at some other cool options - LCD-5s, ZMF, Meze. And I'm realize there's a pretty big world of things to explore in headphone-land. I was poking around head-fi a bit, learned about this place, and I'm pretty sure this is the kind of place I belong.

My studio background informs a lot of how I listen but I also recognize that tools for the studio and for pleasure can (should, even!) aim for different goals. I'm always interested in measurements, always happy to read impressions and always - always - listen before deciding.

Hey all. Been an off-and-on lurker for a while. I'm a longtime audio nerd looking for an online home for sharing in audio nerdery. I'm agnostic when it comes to how/where I listen to music. I've got gear for every occasion.

The pandemic intensified my nerdly pursuit. During quarantine, I restored some vintage equipment, built some DIY components, and totally overhauled my headphone and speaker setups. I'm much more interested in exploring gear than I am in chasing "end games," so my gear is modest, but I'm regularly trying new components and new tweaks. I'm slowly building up a headphone collection, and I'm constantly messing with new approaches to EQ and measurement for both speakers and headphones.

But really, this is all about music for me. I generally can't stand typical "audiophile" music or tastes. My taste is varied, and I have an especially voracious appetite for new music, new genres, and overlooked corners of music making.

    Hello!

Long time audiophile and lurker here. Vinyl and digital collector, I got hooked on the headphone world during the 2020 pandemic when I spent several months dog sitting for friends who basically live in the woods. Needing some good sounding equipment to help keep me sane, I bought some used Schiit gear and a nice set of Grado cans, took advantage of hybrid SACD sales and never looked back. I’ve appreciated the knowledge on this forum for a very long time, thanks for having me.

    Hello! Greetings from Philadelphia PA.

I've been a lurker on SBAF for some time. I've been in the audio hobby for a couple years now, and most recently I've gotten deep into headphones.

    I own the following:

Headphones: ZMF Bokeh, ZMF Verite Closed, ZMF Atrium Open, ZMF Verite Open, ZMF Caldera, ZMF Atrium Closed, ZMF Atticus, Senn HD 660S2, Senn HD 6XX, Grado 325E
Amps: Schiit Mjolnir 3, Schiit Folkvangr, Schiit Magnius
DACs: Schiit Modi, Schiit Gungnir A2 Multibit
Speakers: Ascend Acoustics Sierra 2EX V1, Philharmonic Audio BMR Monitors, Philharmonic BMR HT Towers, B&W DM603 S2

As you can see I'm a fan of ZMF and Schiit products ;).

My music tastes vary, but mainly listen to metal, rock, alt-rock, classical, and pop.

    Excited to be here!
