Hi guys wanted some help I got the Jensen isomax and have an issue
    [IMG]

So I connected the balanced in's with the Yggdrasil, and the outs with RCA's in my black widow is there anything else I need to do to set it up?
So with the Jensen isomax connected am getting noise in my headphones that I don't get without the Jensen isomax.

    Can you describe the noise?
Is it possible the balanced signal is overdriving/clipping the BW inputs?

hi its basically the type of noise you get when the noise floor is increased like maybe putting iems on a high powered amp maybe ? not sure how to describe it

I had that exact same output trio chain for a year, and the Jensen never increased the noise floor.
in fact @Erroneous may have this same cabled chain in his environment?

I have a Jensen right now in between Yggdrasil to EC Super 7 and if anything, noise floor is slightly more black.

take a look at the bottom DIP switches of the Jensen and compare to "Default" settings in the manual.

never touched the DIP switches myself when taking a brand new Jensen out of the box from the factory.
but if you bought a used Jensen, previous owner may have been tweaking via the DIPs for some reason?

After checking the DIP switches, I'd try another set of unbalanced cables (especially if yours are unshielded) and play with gear location/placement. Transformers, power cables, etc. may be interacting with the signal in a way that causes the noise to occur.

@kirayamato I had this same problem using the Jensen between Gungnir Multibit and my 445. It is fixed if I run a second set of cables from Gungnir Multibit to one of the amp's other inputs. The cables just need to be connected even though I am not using that path.

It seems like the amp is dependent on the input cables to supply proper ground. Been meaning to email EC to ask if that's normal.

Any audio equipment I plug into my work PC has a high pitched noise emitted. I work by a data center and I think it might be interference but I'm not sure if my coworkers have this issue. I tried plugging in a USB DAC and I still get the noise, so it wasn't just the headphone jack. Seems like something related to the PC itself. If I move the cables around the pitch changes and gets louder or quieter. Happens on speakers and headphones.

Are there devices you can buy to reduce this kind of noise?

If you have a DAC with a SPDIF optical connection it will provide galvanic isolation for the audio. If there is noise from the power, then you'll need to try something like the Emotiva CMX-2 or maybe an ISoBar.

okay just checked both are pyst balanced and RCA cables

I tried fiddling around with the DIP switch on the back did not have an effect, but when I touched the RCA points (https://gyazo.com/62a752630b9250271fd994d5538b5c1c) the noise went down quite a bit. @zonto maybe your right about shielding not being there don't know if the PYST has them.

am guessing I'll get another pair of pyst cables and connect them to the other points on the black widow they say loop should be fine connecting the RCA's there right?

already have the emotiva cmx-6 so that shouldn't be an issue

I just looked up a pic of the Schiit pyst cables, there seem to be directional indicators on there? Arrows and in and out markers, this might mean that the ground is lifted on one side. This can explain your problems.

    'Morning SBAF,

After one year of being content with my digital set up, I'm itching to try dipping into the vinyl nutjob world. I've read every post in that subforum and would like to confirm about necessary purchases as well as ways to integrate the analog into my speakers/headphone systems.

Current setup: PC > Yggdrasil > EC Studio > Edgarhorn speakers
Yggdrasil > Raggy > Dual subwoofers

I figure for the vinyl rig, I would need: a turntable, a cartridge and a phono stage, before plugging them in the Studio. My question is: how can I add the Raggy + dual subwoofers into the vinyl rig.

Also, I'm visiting San Jose and the Bay Area for the next 3 days. What recommendations for audio shops do you have for turntable auditions?

I would really appreciate your feedback before getting sucked into this abyss.

Can anyone tell me if a pure transport be used strictly as a DAC?

Like say, if the transport has a SPDIF output, can I use that to connect to a Singxer SU-1 & use it as a DAC? Would that work?

based on your LCD2 AND HD650, and already owning Modi Multibit- the wiser spend is on a Jotunheim amp over the iFi iCan IMO.
the resolution, speed, clarity of the Jot far outweigh the british-warm-wank sound especially since you own the LCD-2 and HD650.

not suggesting Jotunheim matches well with the AKG or Grado, but myself- i'd toss those headphones in the trash ASAP.
    YMMV

    ...What?

No. You can't go around sticking outputs into outputs.

I've looked at the Jort but it gives out less power single ended then the Asgard 2 does. Also I own enough Schiit gear I am looking at something different.

When you say "british-warm-wank sound" have you heard that amp? Anything about its sound signature you don't like?

Also yeah the AKGs were rather disappointing but the Grado SR60e are great little headphones for doing work around the house and such.

Anyone have experience with Maestro GMP 400/450? They seem like competitors to the Beyer dt770/880/990 and Senn 600/650. All are high impedance, priced similarly and made in Germany. I see them on Massdrop periodically.

My HD600's headband padding is totally dead & flat and I need a replacement. The HD650-version seems to be cheaper and looks better too - does it fit the 600?

    Thanks guys!
