    hello,

    the real problem with HeadFi is its opposition to the free flow of information.

    i only lurk nowadays as it was just too bothersome to self-censor when posting. if someone legitimately asks about a piece of gear it seems like you can only internally link. heaven forbid if you link to information on an external site that might help the inquirer out.

    heavily censored, moderated with an iron fist, who needs that?

    I still do, I prefer the thread you guys have here though the majority of my online buddies are still there. Though really I'm trying to focus more on my own blog I really only see head fi as a too to push that forward honestly. I've been there long enough to know the "free flow" of information is... limited. But exposure is nice, an review samples are worth while

    Still, want to get more involved with you guys here. Less BS here, an more real room for some objective comparisons

    The AudioGD DAC threads over there are great for reading how the multibit Schiits are inferior (and therefore worse value) due to their "digititus" and/or relative forwardness.

    But it's a great place to check out what's new on the hype train. Plus it's the only way (outside of spamming Cavalli support) to find out the latest Liquid Carbon shipping schedule.

    Plus if I'm ever feeling down, I just need to read a Mike Mercer post and I feed off his infectious energy (<sarcasm>).

    The PCM1704 based DAC-19 at $800 is not a bad price. The thing that really turned me away from AGD was Kingwa crying wolf: "Last of PCM1704! Danger. Danger. No more chip after this. No more Master 7. No more DAC-19." year after year around this time. I guess Kingwa's figured out that people will think he is totally full of shit if he pulls that crap off again this year.

    The PCM1704 stuff has a certain sound. The UltraAnalog or PCM1702 stuff is better at PCM1704 than the PCM1704. And yes, I still have my Sonic Frontiers DAC.
