What are you listening to right now?

I also love the Zubin Mehta/Gilels rendition of the Tchaikovsky. It's more grand, romantic and less intimate, but Van Cliburn's piano work is superior.

 

Another brand-new album from 2022. Heavy Psycho Stoner Soul (or something like that ). Interesting stuff.

 

Just finished listening to a whole bunch of stuff, including Led Zep Houses of the Holy and Led Zep IV, Jethro Tull Songs From the Woods, and Jimi Hendrix The Ultimate Experience. The Hendrix CD is a horrible recording but the songs are SO good.

 

I always liked it when non-Jamaican reggae artists use reggae beats to excellent effect. Here's a prime example, an old favorite Bonnie Raitt tune:

 

Inspired by the Beastie Boys post on the previous page...this is my favorite throwback proto-hiphop cut. It's even more than that: it's an homage to ChaCha tunes from the '50s & a send-up of Vegas-style entertainment.

Been listening to Jmsn's Heals Me album this week. An absolute gem if you ask me.

 

OK, this really is "something completely different." He's a big talent.

I had trouble believing this is his real voice, but it is--his falsetto. Kind of amazing he spent 8+ minutes up there on the vocal ceiling w/o a break or false note.

I don't often find a deathcore band I like but I found one today

 

Started to go through the boxes from mum. A lot of unredeemables to be bin, but I am plucking a few to really clean up.

 

Gradually becoming my favorite Talking Heads album.
