Are you using the "short" or "long" version of the poles for the ISO stands? I wonder if using the long version would help clean it up a bit more as it would be further from the desk surface?

@zonto using the short rods. Good idea, will give the long rods a try but man they are pretty long, couldn’t really use them like that I don’t think.

Yeah. I'm tall so to get things at tweeter height that aren't angled like my Vanatoo T0 I think I'd need to switch to the long rods. Another approach would be to try and high pass the speakers and then route the rest to the sub. I remember before I added a sub to my T0 my desk vibrated more. Still not perfect, but way better than it was with the HPF engaged.

In my experience, going back to the 650 sounds really nice for about 5-10 minutes before really nice turns into dull and boring.

The 650s have been relegated to my daughter's setup full time.

If HD-600 bothers me, I can easily fix it with a tone control or a filter. But I don't seem to be able to fix dark headphones, such as HD-650.

I love the 600s. I actually find them close in detail and midrange goodness to the HD800s. When I want that more intimate vocal presence, they're my go to. You could also try the ZMF suede pads. They bring a bit more space and bass to the sound without messing up what makes them great.

I owned a recent pair of 600s but never heard an older pair. I have had older and newer 650s but did not compare those either.

I will say I liked the 600s better than the 650s. A bit more sparkle and touch less midbass.

Everyone should try the HD600. I had one of the older marbled ones and one of the newer ones. Didn't notice any real difference, pads make more of a difference. I think the HD600 sounds better with worn pads. With fresh pads I found them a little irritating.

I've learned that I have preferences on pad wear for each Senn model. HD650: new pads. HD600: mid-life pad wear. HD580: give me some fairly worn out pads and I'm in heaven.

If you like the change, I highly recommend trying out the ZMF pads.

It is very chain dependent; HP and DAC. I've found a combo that's more than just ok.

Totally. I have trouble enough keeping my wallet protected from rolling one tube. I cannot imagine the mayhem with 10 tubes. Smart choice.

Thin head crew here. Funny because it drives me nuts when I get a second hand pair of hd6x0 and the clamp is loosey goosey.

@Mr.Sneis I have a fairly narrow head as well, but these things are locking in hard. Might put a couple of pillows in between the cups to stretch them out a bit while they burn in.

Can't return em if you can't remove them from your head!

As mentioned in one of the SW51+ threads. RFT tubes are excellent, cheap, and are probably the only tube other than stock I like in this amp. I find the RFT seems to bring a bigger, deeper, wider stage, with very similar tone to stock

Where's a good place to get these RFT tubes ? I could use a back up set.

While I don't have a SW51+, I do prefer the control and coloration of the high-Z or high-gain out for my ZMF Auteur.

Freya+ and Vidar for now. Looking at something else potentially though in future.

I’d be curious to see what you think of it relative to the LS6. The Graham speakers are a huge hit among my Chennai friends. They don’t seem to be a fan of Harbeth.

I'm curious to hear your impressions too, i've owned those 3 years ago so memory has faded a bit.

One of my ears is a little more forward on the side of my head. No one has ever noticed it by looking at me. So I *carefully* bend my headbands to fit my head whenever possible. It's not as if they can't be bent back.

Here's what I suggest: Remove the headband pad. Extend the cups fully. Put the headband on your head like that in front of a mirror. Nudge the cups, a little at a time, to where you want them. That could tell you what's bent out of shape. And you might be able to fix it. If you can fix it that way, I don't think you'll have to do a lot of hard adjusting once you put the headpad pad back on. Hope it works out!

I noticed differences with the A1/GS but i dont with the A2 or the LIM, at least with my current gear, which make me glad since most of my favourite amps are SE only.

Interesting- perhaps the A2 upgrade made some kind of improvements to the SE output summing as well (intentional or not)

I have a Freya N, but my QS is quite noisy when you use the volume all the way up, so I use the SE outs for that and it still sounds amazing.

Also play around with bending the headband for less clamping force and adjusting the pads by twisting them. The pads don't have a lot of room so matching them to your ear can really help.

Comfort for me, from best to worst is as follows...Eikon leathet perf -> Aeolus leather Perf -> Universe leather perf -> uni suede perf.

Apparently I have Eikon perf and Universe Perf. Not sure which is which, but one is very shallow and one is a lot thicker. Pref the thicker ones by far, the other are way too shallow.

Yeah eikon are the deepest that also sound good on Aeolus. I prefer them. Universe were also way too shallow for me. But honestly try slotting a length of paracord underneath the bottom edges of the pad. Helps give you some ear depth.

I actually have a new pair coming from ZMF that are currently lost in the mail. Lol. Ugh....fedex....
