@rtaylor76 Polk Audio RT25i (bookshelf speakers), but I am going to upgrade later this year. We will see how the RT25i sound with new amping before doing anything rash... :-)
I mean, I had them for awhile before upgrading to others. They are not bad, but there are much better out there now, esp. if you are willing to look used - B&W, Monitor Audio, Elac. The Polk,s were about the best we had at the store I used to work at. Although Energy's were nice, but not now since Klipsch bought them.
Cool, I thought you were abandoning things altogether. The Rotel looks like a nice amp on paper at least. Personally I think going with new speakers is going to be where you’ll see the biggest improvement, especially going up to $2k - if you find the right ones I bet they will easily best the Polks. But you will need a better quality amp to get the most out of them anyhow, so good to get on with that in the meantime.
@rlow Getting a better amp made sense. That way, if I find a speaker I really like, I won't have to worry TOO much about ohms, sensitivity, etc. The Rotel should drive any of the speakers I've considered to their potential. Perhaps I'll pull trigger this summer!
@rtaylor76 I hear you. The Polks are a good starter pair. I got them 20 years ago. I'm definitely ready to step up to something better. I'll keep the Polks around just for comparison and to remind me of where I started! haha
