Where you drink is as important as what you drink.

Reposado Tequila, Mommenpop Vermouth, Bitter Bianco, Salt.

Delicious, but I didn't expect it to look like this and I didn't expect it to taste like this.

This, but with mezcal instead of gin. Delicious.

Sazerac. A rye cocktail named after a cognac. I'm drinking it in a restaurant named after a child, in a town named for an animal. It's really good.

Isn't Anejo normally a gold or amber color? That looks more like a Blanco.

A couple of nights ago, I celebrated my having scored several Mercury Living Presence CDs at a local library sale ($1 each!). The Respeghi Pines/Fountains sounded so excellent, I decided to break out this:

I picked it up at Dublin duty free coming back from Germany last November

Añejo can be crystal clear. Even an extra añejo can be as well. This one actually has a tad bit of color that isn’t really discernible in the pic. It is quite a good quality añejo (runs about $70 per 750ml and that is a great price for the quality) that is certified no additive so that may have something to do with the clearer color.

Learn something new every day, thanks. I'd always assumed the color was directly associated with aging, but a quick Google clues me in to the concept of cristalino, which is what I assume that is. I prefer Anejos but have never tried a clear one, I've probably passed them by at the store for that very reason assuming they were blancos. I'm still unclear on the purpose of adding flavor and then filtering it out, but I will look for this next trip to the liquor mart so I can taste for myself.

A Blood and Sand variant: Mezcal, Cherry Heering, vermouth, some other stuff, and absinthe.

It was good, but not as good as a real Blood and Sand.
