41C is pretty bad even for those of us that are used to it in mid summer and who don't go much under +20C in mid winter. I am not sure if I would have ever experienced -16C: I don't think my parts of UK ever got that cold. Freezing, yes, but maybe not -16C freezing.

Welcome to the world of the cheap hot dog!

I’ve experienced 41 or higher plenty of times in Texas summers. It’s just weird to step on that plane in such extreme cold and step off in such heat!

It was weird enough when I used to come from +single-digit-C England to 30+C India as a tourist. And weirder going back.

Got a mellotron plug in for my midi Synth. Was immediately vamping on some classic King Crimson riffs. The sounds demanded it!

@spwath yeah and King Crimson has been one of my favorite bands for like 35 years. I’ve probably listened to them more than any other band. I have played around with the Strawberry Fields intro too though.

Some of their melodies and grooves were infectious. I might have mistaken the instrument they used.

Yes, but you might want to check out gearslutz or muffwiggler for the right sort of nerds. There's a bit of a small box renaissance in the last N years, lots of good options both digital and analogue, so you're in luck.

I know, there was some poor bastard claiming he can't hear the difference between a SS and tube amp on HD800. Everyone chimed in to say tubes are shit. This is why you should never start with high end but people are very impatient these days. It's about the journey not the destination.

Hmm. Maybe the problem is 'smallest guy' rather than 'N Korean'? IME small man syndrome is a thing - and I say that not being too tall myself...

Yeah.. I think it may be a combo. I have a North Korean guy in my class with me and we are on good terms. Nice guy. I do feel like the fact that I'm American may play some part but yes, small man syndrome is totally happening.

My school actually doesn't have that many American guys. There is one other that comes consistently I can think of but he is born in Mexico and often people here do not associate light brown skin with Americans weirdly. So I may be an obvious target for an NKer with a couple of buddies and small man syndrome
