I just had the opportunity to compare the Weiss 204 dac $3,495 to my Gungnir a2 MB. The short is for my system and ears the Gungnir is better. The Weiss was not as meaty and dense as I like and it had a slight digitisis ( I feel this in my gut). The dac was clear good weight slightly bass light. After warming it up for 4 days it relaxed and the top end was smooth, still slight digitisis. The tonal quality compared to Gungnir was tiled up not offensive just tiled up. Its a good dac I think its overpriced, For $1,000 would be worth it for a system that gels with it

I had a similar experience comparing the DAC 204 to my MHDT Orchid. The 204 did some things a little better, some things a little worse, but not enough of an improvement to justify the 3x price difference.

when I push the metal button on the front which changes the input choice it may or may not move to the next input choice.
If anyone can tell me how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
    best,
    Josh

Sounds like the switch could be going bad.

You can try sliding the top out (carefully) just a little and then (carefully and slowly) slide it back to reset the button/contact. If you’re not careful you might jostle the LEDs etc. I’ll state the obvious: you’re doing this at own risk.

Otherwise I think Schiit can advise.

Edit: this is not a system reset… sometimes buttons get stuck from use, so a little re-setting it in place might help.

Josh did you try any of the suggestions we gave you on the last page, or is this a different issue?

Not yet I am chooping up the chassie, cutting the insert peice so its just the back peice to hold all the wires, then cuttin holes in the top and bottom of the outer chassie. Sounds crazy and yet having the board out in the air sounds much better. When I do the cutting in the next few weeks at a friends shop I will try and resolder the receiving device.
    best,
    Josh

This was mentioned somewhere that the DAC sounded better without the case (gumbreya thread?). I wonder why that is. I guess cooler temps or radio frequencies not bouncing back?
