I was thinking about this just a few days ago, tried to match some of my headphones with beats graphs bass wise. And, tho I partially understand the point of the article, I have to disagree. See, I believe this is pretty subjective thing, I like small midbass bump (because of drums) and linear sub (just to give it fullness), but that's just me. 1/2

On the other hand, even tho I understand bassheads, +12db bass region does horrible things to overall sound, it ruins the mids, it ruins the details, it ruins everything. It's the same thing with all the bass boosted nonsense. God I don't know who listen to those. 2/2

I don't have a problem with well-done bass-emphasized cans, some of which are noted in the article. But the generalization that we all like that is . . . well a generalization. IMHO, even well-done bass-emphasized cans just do not work well with certain music. Some lighter acoustic/folk/rock sound really bad to me with any kind of boosted bass, for example.

So, I have always shied away from those types of cans even though there are quite a few that I have enjoyed in demos. Also, the bass emphasis gets kind of one note after a while and can become boring to me. So for me, it is not neutrality that is boring, but this sort of one-note'ish bass emphasis. That said, if anyone wants to gift me the new Fostex I am all open arms. :)
