    I don't know if this thing has Home DAC Modules or Max. Ugh. May have to open to check. It's not as good as my Gungnir Multibit, but it sounds as good as a very good 1704 based DAC. Smooth and romantic, but still presenting microdetail.

    The amplifier itself is great. As you'd expect, it sounds a lot like the BUDA (the same unit but with no DAC and Max amp modules). The BUDA is one of my favorite solid state amps - and if you need hardware crossfeed for your listening, IMO jumps to the top of the list.

    (The hardware crossfeed warms things up a bit, but a small high-shelf filter boosting above 240hz fixes that while still keeping the improved sense of space.) Too bad these ever went out of production. I blame the casework. It's not a looker.

    I have a Headroom Max and I always found the hardware crossfeed rather pleasing. It's not my favorite SS amp, but I still enjoy it occasionally.
