Really? Why? I found it was far from what Audeze describe "A perfect combination of the LCD-X and LCD-4"

It sounds a lot more like an LCD-4, which I had the privilege to spent a week with plus Phonitor 2... Its NOT perfect. I might prefer LCD-4 over MX4 but have not compared side by side yet. I find the midrange emphasis to be a tad much, and LCD-4 perhaps more accurate. I don't really like LCD-X.

These are early enthusiastic impressions from me. Brutal truth: planars image worse than dynamic.

Problem is I tried it with the Auteur and Verite (with a really expensive dcs stack I'm not familiar with). The ZMF has better soundstage, more 3D. Vocals sound sweeter too. But the MX4 just killed the ZMF in bass. Impact is really good.

Planars never seem to image that well, it seems to be simply due to physics of the operating principle of planar magnetic design. I generally find technical superiority in the dynamic driver headphones.

I can dream. Verite seems to have that magic like Utopia does. Oh my...

Agreed. But planars have that weight and impact that dynamics can only dream of (TH900 gets close tho).

That's why we need at least one dynamic and one planar.

Honestly MX4 and LCD-4 (+Phonitor 2) helped me realize planars aren't crap like I judged from my experience with LCD-2 pre-faz and hifiman. I would be so down to try an LFF modded Hifiman HE-6/HE-5. Seems like winners.

I feel like Utopia does impact on par. But planar bass is special. Feels like it comes from you at all angles. Pleasant for sure.
