Agreed. After Laterus and 10.000 Days you could hear they were going Prog in their sound. The latest tracks indicate that they are evolving. I hope that their sound will still have the energy of their first albums. In recent years even Deep Purple rocked hard enough so I hope Tool can deliver...
Rossetta Stoned > Vicarious. Don't mean to go total fanboy here but I have always enjoyed the direction that band has been evolving... and yet Ænima has always been my favorite.
I'm excited to hear it, but even 10,000 Days took long to come out. And they pretty much did Lateralus all over again with crappier pacing. Haven't heard the new tracks, but it would've been cool for them to do a complete left turn like Kid A, after all these years. But yeah, a good prog rock record is quite enough at this point.
