    I'm focusing on getting a USB DAC right now, for $100 or so. I could spend $170 tops if that would get me something audibly better that I wouldn't need to upgrade for a lot longer.

    You already have an amp? If you need to stick to the 100 and want a combo then Fulla 2. If just DAC then try to get the Modi.

    Awesome, thanks. Before I came here I spent a few weeks on ASR forum. I didn't like the vibe there, it made me worried that the all measurement and little to no listening methods would be missing something each time. I doubt we have the measurements and scientific understanding to achieve perfect, measurement only reviews. That lead me here, I feel a lot more confident in the reviews and advice here. Thanks.
