Link? Or is it the stuff from August talking about how WSJ was able to buy/sell garbage? In which case I agree - not good - but then there's also ebay et al.
Hit paywall in both normal and incognito, cleared cookies, changed dynamic IP, etc.
As for Amazon's choice, I've always thought it was misleading but not flat out immoral in the narrow sense of the idea/word/definition - it usually says Amazon Choice "for xyz" but xyz doesn't have correlate to anything and they have easy returns. Basically they can say you didn't read closely. [cont below]
Have wondered if this is used to get people to spend less time browsing (and hence less time buying or some other profit optimization via site analytics), get people to buy what may be more profitable for Amazon in a general category, or if there is some "legitimate benevolent reason" for it... too bad Amazon shares so little about internal ops. etc.
As for Amazon turning into a flea market (including above) - I've been complaining about this since 2014/15 and this is one of the main reasons I cancelled my Prime subscription around the same time. I feel like I can get better quality on most things elsewhere and price is usually +/- $2. I don't care that much about free 1-2 day vs free 4-5 day shipping.
However, not their fault per se IMO, much like ebay again.
One way around the WSJ paywall is to find the article in the WSJ Twitter feed and click through to the article from the tweet. Make sure your adblocker isn't blocking referrers. Another way is to search MSN News (Bing News) for WSJ articles.
The more counterfeits that shows up on Amazon. The unsafe stuff people are ordering not knowing its fake. The standards Amazon is setting for the rest of businesses sucks.
