Nothing comes for free really. That’s why solar is the only real answer because the energy is created by the sun a bajillion miles away we don’t have to create it we just have to figure out how to harness it.

Also I think more people could stand to think about the ultimate source of "eco-friendly" alternatives because that's a talking point that goes over more heads than you'd think.

At the moment, most hydrogen is made from hydrocarbons (oil). The issue isn't just hydrogen generation, just pumping hydrogen into a tank is far from trivial (problems with pressure, storage and of course, safety). At this point I'd say that batteries are a better and safer bet, barring an unexpected breakthrough elsewhere.
