Let him double check to set the gain low.. Power really doesn't matter much. Output level = Gain * Input level. Also better start from "mute" on the preamp part. If he is planning to GET two AHB only for sus.. you should text him five times a day to stop it lol.

If he is already an AHBs owner, kindly advise him to start from one AHB.. low gain on one AHB will be 9.2db so it won't be that crazy. Bridged AHBs will be predictably of higher gain (in low gain mode) but still manageable I think.

He has one AHB and contemplating a second one, yes, just for Sus, although he is aware it is pointless and I basically told him he's dancing with the devil putting that much power on tap.

Then he must be familiar with operating power amp with headphones. Basic operation will be the same (if he did it right) except always adding additional attenuation (6db or higher for the headroom purpose) on either preamp or digital domain. Grab popcorn and watch if he blows his sus. lol

At minimum. I don't how much SPL Sus can put out before the drivers detonate but I read Audezes could do 130 db for a few seconds, which would be bad for hearing.

IDK either! But I bet it must be way lower than Audezes. Thinking the maginot line as 100-105db spl would be safe (for product as well as listener).

as long as he doesn't turn it up too loud, he'll be fine, the same advice you would use for any listening. Outside of some sort of catastrophic failure, speaker amps aren't any more dangerous, they usually have more gain so volume control could be touchy. But the ahb2 has a lot of protection circuitry in place, so even catastrophic failure shouldn't result in any damage

@Vtory Welp, on Sunday he blew a driver on his Sus after adding too much EQ.

Oh, that's too bad. He must've been a little more careful. Sounds like he didn't make sure 0dbfs out was in the safe zone.

Thankfully he's rich enough to afford the repair or buy another pair outright.
