Yes. The only thing that changes across Yggdrasil versions is the DAC boards and the firmware chip you need to swap out from the DSP board specific to each pair of DAC boards. That's all (other than the new front-panel board/DSP chip/chassis for Yggdrasil+, or the various USB input boards).

@internethandle wait they can? I thought A1/GS couldn't go "up" in flavors. can it also go to A2/OG?

@caute Schiit originally stipulated with GS that they would not, as part of the break in price at the time, take the DAC's back for upgrades, and/or that they were sort of sold "as is" with Gen 5 (3?) USB/new firmware chip/A1 boards. With GS being defunct, I doubt they stick to that much, and anyway there's nothing keeping you/a friend from upgrading at home after ordering the boards (incl. A2) for self-install.

It was Schiit's way at the time of keeping people from first buying a GS, then an A2 board upgrade and getting a price break vs. just buying a new A2 Yggdrasil. I think they all knew people might still self-install boards, but they had to do something to keep new A2 owners from feeling like they were getting screwed. All that's kind of out the window with the three flavors/no more GS/Yggdrasil+/etc. etc. etc.

Actually I’m forgetting a big piece, which was they didn’t allow for Yggdrasil self-install of anything but the USB cards until LIM/MIL was introduced, so that’s really what changed from the GS era to now. You had to send in to get A2, and they wouldn’t do it for a GS. Now you can self-install any of them.
