I have been to both places before, so have been to some of the major tourist spots, especially in HK, but always interested in new stuff. My Chinese is basically non-existent if that matters, though my wife speaks both Mandarin and Cantonese pretty fluently.
And most importantly, where should I eat? I am allergic to shellfish, so that is pretty limiting, but my wife is a foody and will eat basically anything.
I was thinking of you, admiringly, only this morning. Gotta say I think it's pretty ballsy to visit China. Yes, I have a cousin who's been going there every month for business for years and years, but he's the tough guy sort. But I confess that tyrannies scare me. I am *not* trying to scare you. I hope you both have the best time.
I’ve been to Shenzhen on a business trip a few years ago. Sadly, I’ve got nothing to recommend as I didn’t see much more than the hotel and the plant I worked at. But, boy, what a huge city! For me as a European, that alone was really out of the ordinary.
