I usually eye roll at people getting nervosa over worrying about overheating Schiit gear but with MJ3 I’d probably not stack something on top of it or put more space.

Adding rubber isolation feet to elevate I'd expect would solve the problem.

Rubber isolation feet may absorb enough heat to leave residue, I advise magic rocks or other non marring material

my jankiest spacing solution is to cut an empty toilet paper roll into quarters as feet, easily sturdy and lets the air pass through, but if your cuts aren't exact it might be a little off kilter

Yes, it's unsafe. How unsafe? Unsafe enough that I don't want you to have to find out. Likewise, I don't want to have to find out. Just don't do it.

Paraphrased from an old, wizzened London hifi repair man's blog that I read long ago...

Heat is bad for electronics. The hotter it runs the younger it will die. Whatever feet the manufacturer gave you, put them on washers, or something to add a bit more space. If you must stack, put the hot stuff on top. Don't let your stuff wear out as fast as the manufacturers want it to.

... This is all 'My First Hifi" stuff. Or ought to be, but it often gets neglected.

Oh, and feet: it's not heat absorption, its *airflow*
