Mostly just curious to hear about some cool stuff out there I might be missing out on knowing. Not, like, Wilson Audio or Dan D'Agostino, which seems so ubiquitous and blingy I can hardly bring myself to care. But interesting components from interesting makers or neat vintage stuff.

Ha, therein lies the rub.... B/c as drool worthy as the EM/IA stuff is it is priced pretty damn high. And, of course, many (sane) folks would consider commonly lauded gear on here to be insanely priced. Maybe I mean "drool but cool" hi-fi stuff. Pricey but in reach, however vaguely. Or not just the standard Martin Logan or McIntosh fare.

Or maybe... McIntosh vintage stuff that deserves the rep. I drool over MC30 mono-blocks now and then.... Or old Denon turntable motor units.

A thread with the idea of promulgating some knowledge of slightly more esoteric gear that might not often get mentioned on here?

But if this seems like a frivolous thread, and would just clutter things up, I'm happy to skip it.

“Aspirational” will vary from person to person. Maybe ask folks to declare a dollar amount they couldn’t imagine spending…except for [insert gear here.] like, I’ve never spent over $2000 on any one piece, I could maybe imagine spending about $5000 one day, but I might get a pair of used Avantgarde horns around $10,000 one day.

How about instead of “Amplifier Porn,” we do “ The Amplifier Next Door”?

@wbass what makes this difficult is that it's easy to go through someone's A-list and throw a system together. The question is if the system would have any synergy.
