Im almost certain i read it shouldnt; it's very disconcerting though. Only on high gain right? I think John at JDS said it can be avoided w a higher powered wall wart. Its a problem w the odacs output impedance matching up with the O2. I hate when fanboys don't mention that issue when raving about the odac/o2 combo.

It's clipping on well mastered albums like Morbid Angel's Blessed are the Sick. It clipped the quiet keyboard interludes tonight with foobar outputting in ASIO and WASAPI...

I didn't get it on every album either.

Here is what John daid in 2012: "This occurs with O2 when using a strong source/DAC with some headphones. You simply need a higher voltage AC adapter to use high gain."

I have the 15 volt AC one instead of the older 12 volt adapter. I will make a thread.

Interesting! That's a shame. Do you have another dac there to say if it occurs too?

Nope but I was told it would not clip on 3.5x gain right after I bought the unit.

Have you checked the drivers for bits of hair? I believe that can be a different cause for clipping...

No hair. Just checked under a bright light.

The O2 clips more easily than people say. I'd lower gain down to 2.0

Since it's clipping on 1x with WASAPI/ASIO, it's probably a settings or driver issue of those not bypassing the Windows volume control. I'm having problems getting it to clip at 3.something x gain at higher volumes with DirectSound.
