I own a pair of sennheiser hd800 and a Yamaha motif xs synthesizer. I would like to know if it's possible to add a headphone amp to this setup and if it would improve the sound. I am using my headphones for music production and mixing, so I am looking for the clearest sound possible. If It is possible to add an amp, what kind of cables or extra gear would I need? Thanks

Then you have come to the wrong place, and posted in a manner that's going to get you nowhere.

    I'd suggest trying Reddit instead.

I don't mean to invade your community but I literally can't find the answer anywhere else. I've searched forums and webpages with no luck. I would really be grateful if someone could help me out here if they knew the answer to my question.

It took about 2 minutes to Google the specs on the Yamaha motif XS and find it has line-out via L and R mono TRS. Using this cable here (or a longer one) you can connect the synth to a headphone amp. You can search around to find plenty of suggestions for amps that work well with the HD800.

Edit: Thinking about it some more, the OP @Earphonics never said what model of motif XS he had so I assumed it was the Rack-XS. However I searched again (about 2 more mins of time) and found on the Canadian Yamaha site the XS-6, 7 and 8 all have the same dual mono TRS line-out.

Thank you for that link to that cable, that gets me somewhere. I should've explained that I know nothing about which input/output to use, cables, or any sound equipment terms. Also, I know just enough to use the very basics of my synthesizer but I'm not asking about that. I saw those inputs/outputs on the back of my motif xs synth but had no idea which to use.
And to your response bobboxboy, I've looked at those websites and they don't answer my questions. So then if those are the cables I would use, would I get much of a benefit (sound wise) using a headphone amp with a synthesizer?

To be honest, probably not much while you are composing. However the real benefits of the amp come in once you're finished and listening to completed music.

that is the problem, most likely you will not understand the answer, even if somebody will provide it to you. So I'd too suggest to start reading.
