Would the stainless steel Slayer HELL-P record destroy your stylus? Would it have anthropomorphic qualities like hardness and heft? Jan 24, 2020 at 12:38 PM

Steel is not as hard as diamond. Nowhere near.

I think you would be safe playing a stainless-steel record of anything. Unless it knocks the stylus off its mount.

(pedantic afterthought: yes, diamond is brittle, and, although it can scratch a hammer, the hammer can crush it. So... how hefty are those transients? lol)

The dude that did the pre-move survey was an audio guy and asked a bunch of questions about my setup, and at the end he said he was going to insist they make crates for the KEFs. Pretty awesome since my wife's work is footing the bill for the whole move.

Spotify doesn't have the same DRM? I thought UMG did that on all of their music that's not on CDs, including bought(!) digital copies.

I haven't noticed it on Spotify. It was most noticeable on hi-res content on Tidal, so maybe lower bitrate makes it harder to discern. Also I don't critically listen with Spotify, whereas if I'm paying for lossless I want it to be indistinguishable from my CD rips. Either way, Tidal supports MQA so I won't support them.

Oh, I don't listen to the 'Master' tracks on Tidal, either. I think Music that isn't UMG should be fine, though. I know it was in the past, but maybe things have changed.

Avoid houses with basements, if at all possible; thereby avoiding 2/3ds of the Things That Can Go Wrong. Watch out for polybutylene pipes & people passing off damaged Masonite by repainting it a dark color. Best luck!

Going to try it out today. Main reason is right now all my music is hosted from a shared folder on my desktop PC, which has a 3TB raid1 just for media. I want to be able to put it to sleep when I'm not using it but I can't stream music while it's sleeping.

It's a pretty nice router for being 2+ years old. Its a Netgear Nighthawk R6700 rev2. It has a dual-core 1ghz processor, so probably fine for hosting a file system that I can edit from my desktop and access from my RPi to stream music.

I had to order a new external HDD, the one I have isn't compatible with the router (needs a driver) since it's an internal 2.5" HDD/SSD WD dual drive in an external enclosure.

Wow memory foam tips are legit. They are so stuck in my ear it's a chore to take them out, which is the whole reason I wanted them. The silicon tips that came with these IEMs would fall out constantly, no matter what size I used. And these are just more comfortable.

Back from class and cleaned up the records. Yes is near mint, traffic is also near mint on side 1, VG+ on side 2. Aqualung is VG+, Houses is perfect with only a minor scuff on side 1, LZ4 is also mint, but it's a recent remaster pressing. AiC is also brand new. Listening will commence after they dry fully.

I remember really liking that Traffic album, though I can't recall anything about it now: I'd better ask the internet.

And Jethro Tull, at the time of Aqualung, was one of my first live rock concerts. Biggest problem is that you can never, for the rest of your life, sit on a park bench without doing it to that tune!

I actually use the same ones daily when I need less bulk. Surprisingly competent for a came-with pair of IEMs, good for YouTube and Spotify at least.

+1 comfort, I usually have trouble with IEMs that aren't tiny bullet ones but these aren't irritating enough for me to lose my temper at them :))
