LetMeBeFrank

Won't tell anyone my name is actually Francis, Male, from Jackson, Mi

Friend

Finally ran Ethernet to a few rooms in the house, my exterior drywall is 1" thick! Also, ethernet to RPi is so much better than 2.4gz wifi. Nov 21, 2020

I sincerely wish that building developers would start hard wiring some CAT5/6 conduits in walls. I've seen some new condos developed with power plugs with USB ports on them, why not add ethernet points for an access point or two?

One can always use an extra router and possibly flash DD-WRT to use it as an access point to connect ethernet to the Pi and turn off the WiFi. Or an old repeater.

I'm all for an ethernet-wired house. But most people would ignore it.

And it is a specific set of cabling skills and testing equipment. Which is why, as a get-hands-dirty small-office systems manager, I used to call in the qualified guys to do it.

@JK47 It's a May 1974 pressing. The owner of the shop I bought it from is a self-proclaimed Zappa freak, and he had a ton of really good stuff in the back room. He had others that had mint sleeves but were about 50% more, so I opted for this one.

Looks lovely. I'm always going on about this: Turntable should not be on top of a heat-producing component.

He'd probably say, "Been like that for years, and never warped a record." Lucky man! :)

(Actually, the receiver needs to breathe too: will live longer with better ventilation)

The "Themes and variations in D-minor" track is really cool. Reminds me of all the violins on Lunar Strain. The re-recordings are not great though. Thankfully they are tacked on the end of the album so no need to listen to them.

Did a lot of experimenting with different types of rooms when I played cello more - it really varies based on room acoustics as a whole. A covered ceiling by itself can go both ways.

Had to look up coved. Should be good from the point of view that the cove would cause a break up of waves traveling along the wall and ceiling intersection. Just a thought, though.
