I wonder what the soundsignature curve looks like for the new T5p.

The T5p.2 sounded warmer [than the T5p] with an odd treble character (caveat: I am not sensitive to treble peaks), almost like the "tangzzz" cymbal characteristic that Tyll described in his review of the LCD-4. Also, there seemed to be a lack of coherence from the mids to the treble for acoustic music. These, coupled with an odd physical fit (the circumaural seal was broken whenever I moved my jaw) that made the bass impact inconsistent, caused me not to enjoy the T5p.2 enough to retain them.

On the other hand, they were light, comfortable, and very easy to drive. It was also nice to maintain a level of situational awareness (with no music, voices leaked in fairly easily but was not noticeable once music was played) without music leaking outward.

I bought T5p.2 because I wanted a closed portable headphone and I like their sound signature. With my desk headphone amp (T-35HP) they are similar to HD600 but with more clarity, better bass, separation and sound stage. But they really shine when I use them outside paired with my HTC 10 phone and JDC Labs C5. Never thought that I could get such quality on portable audio - they are slightly warmer than with T35HP which is fine.

These are number two on my headphone wish list, right after ProPhile-8 IEM that I will get first at the end of the year.

I always wanted the T5, although its tuning was somewhat tinny or hollow. The T5p II seems to do a much better job unless my memory fails me or my source has become significantly better.

I'm new here, but I thought I would chime in since I just received a pair of these in the mail today. Verdict, they are pretty good. I love the compact size, they sound far more open than you would think for a closed can. They sort of remind me of my Fostex TH900s, but with less of a v signature, and less bass of course. They could almost be kind of boring as they sound so complete. Listening to the TH900, Elear, Stax 207, or Audeze EL-8, they all have something different about them that stands out. The t5p has bass mids and the highs, but nothing seems to be too much. I guess that's a good thing in many ways, but as I said, it's almost boring.
