        It's cute how you guys defend somebody who just wants to provoke and slags people who try to take a very objective approach to reviewing. He deserves a little dig in the ribs from time to time. After all, that's what he likes and openly asks for, for people to grow a thick skin and take some insults.         As a biocellulose fan myself, have to agree that experimenting with different materials and getting to hear the results is great fun.

        As for the bass-heavy tuning... maybe they're trying to reach out to fun-fi consumers? The cans are priced a bit high for mass market EDM heads though.

        @JK47 I did not "take a shot" at the Andromeda, I was simply surprised why somebody would claim they are neutral. In the end, I personally prefer neutrality which I think is the closest to transparent, e.g. does not distract from the music

        Not to mention 72 hours is a _very_ curious number. It must be based on data and controlled research for such a claim. So that basically means somebody ships an unfinished product by the manufacturer's perspective. That is a fine line between material and finished product

        You will get more bass. Easy from the iPhone/DAP and still sounds mostly the same as an HD600.

        I can tell what Sennheiser was going for. They wanted to strike the balance between 600 and 650. I can say that the 660 is less mid-centric than 600 and got rid of 650's veil as well. It's a tonally accurate and dynamic sounding headphone. If you'd take the Pentacon cable out of the box and sell it for 400, the community would appreciate the HD 660 S much more.

        However, at 500 € it currently challenges a discounted HE-560 and that is a tough one to beat! I miss the extension and speed of magnetostatic headphones. And of course, there's the HD 58X Jubilee on Massdrop for a very low price...

        @k.e. Differing opinions from the majority actually reduces the so called bias, if you think about it. I actually thought the H2 had good technicalities in some areas, but was hard sounding (DAVE fixes that).

        Try to compare other good DACs in same price range directly.

        I would really hope that it is a significant improvement over the stock PM-2. I thought the first iteration of PMx2 was way better than stock. I will have the loaner soon (hopefully!) of latest version and will compare to my stock PM-2 and report back with impressions.

        I was expecting a reference tuning, but the PMx2 is still on the musical side, with lush mids and recessed treble. The sound is not neutral, more fuller and warmer sounding.

        Not a fan. Uncomfortable, zero isolation, dull sound. Sadly the Cipher cable has a weird EQ correction. It's close to Harman's over-ear but goes ballistic in the treble. Several peaks even though they used DSP correction. Yes, I can use my own EQ with the app, thanks Audeze, but then I can use any IEM.

        @Luckbad My ADI-2 Pro has true DSD support (if using as DAC only) and I'm using jRiver's MC23 with Blind Test function. So far no luck telling it apart from 16Bit...

        The nutshell version after years of both theory and practice in pro audio and enthusiast playback: for consumer, higher SR makes filters easy and less audible, fuller harmonic series. For pro, captures more info for processing (noise reduction, more harmonics, bias tone of tape transfers).

        Only get the HD Audio if the master tapes are used and dynamic range is "plenty" for enough headroom volume to match with your audio system. I prefer early pressings when possible for CD. For downloads 16 bit FLAC is often good enough...
